The tight-end retired after helping the Pats win their third Super Bowl and he might well return. Either way, the Patriots have demonstrated again and again they could rebuild their roster, accommodate their gameplan and find a way to triumph.
The Patriots are now tied for most Super Bowl wins together with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Write off a title at your peril.

Mayfield was the number one among the 2018 draft after the Arizona Cardinals chosen him and faculty team-mate Kyler Murray got the honor.
